Predictions for Chelsea’s League Cup clash with Nottingham Forest
Chelsea and Nottingham Forest face off on Wednesday in a Carabao Cup clash. Will the Blues be able to effortlessly cruise their way to the next round?
Barrett Rouen: 4-2 Chelsea. An odd lineup of outcasts and youngsters weighed down by Gary Cahill will have a harder time than they think against some fighters looking for a scalp before they pull out a win in the end.
Travis Tyler: 4-0. Conte will play a young yet hungry lineup but they will struggle to hold a 1-0 lead. The subs come on a change the match with an explosion of goals that makes it comfortable in the end.
Daniel McClue: 3-0. A classy and comfortable victory for the boys in Blue. Batshuayi, Musonda and Christensen scoring. Musonda steals the show, dribbling past players at will, all while recording an Instagram live. He spends the 90 minutes pulling off tricks and screaming into his phone about how ‘it’s been 5 years in the making for this 90 minutes’ or something.
Abhishek Pancholi: 5-0. Musonda to do a madness and score a brace. Cahill will, unsurprisingly, hold steady against lower league opponents before almost giving away a goal in the end. Christensen will bail him out, though. Expect more #NotMyCaptain specimens to mushroom during and after the game.
Vishnu Raj: 3-0. Hazard and Musonda to shine. Cahill will be having an average match. He will make way for Ampadu later in the second half and will pass the captain’s armband to Eden Hazard before taking his place on the bench. Michy and Eden to be among the goals.
Brendan McDonnell: 3-1. I’m far more interested to see who is in the first XI than I am in the actual result. My guess is we cruise through the match, but give up a sloppy goal somewhere. I guess now I’ll get a full glimpse of why CFC held on to Charly and let go of my beloved Traore.
Scott Brant: 4-1. A young lineup that is motivated to win will ease past Forest in what is expected to be a closer match. Musonda and Bats dominate. Both get a brace. Hazard shines with 4 assists.
Kevin Peacock: 3-1. Following the weekend’s sluggish performance against Arsenal, Antonio Conte has said Eden Hazard will start. With the introduction of the fringe players and some of the development kids, the game is likely to be a relatively close affair. Forest are likely to rotate their starting XI as well and ex Chelsea ‘kid’ Michael Mancienne may play. Chelsea will have enough power on the bench to overcome the Championship side, if needed. Chelsea run out winners 3-1.
