Chelsea played another match of weak, unorganized pub-side football against Roma in the Champions League. The crisis deepens.

Antonio Conte has his hands full with the weak and foolish side that Michael Emenalo and Marina Granovskaia have assembled for him. Chelsea looked all at once gorgeous, pathetic, strong, weak, talented and off-center. This team genuinely does not know which way is up at the moment, and each match appears to be more of a dice roll.

The Blues threw away a 2-0 lead at home to the fifth best team in Italy. That is not good.  The defense looks like a complete mess and the midfield – without N’Golo Kante to save them – is a misery to watch.

If there is a positive to be had it is that Chelsea are most likely making those who were ardently atheist into true believers. The fact that Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata are even willing to be seen with this lot of jokers hints at the divine more than the Buddha’s tooth, the shroud of Turin or Muhammed’s beard.

Chelsea are going through it at the moment, and they need to realize some hard truths. First, Thibaut Courtois is a mediocre goalkeeper at best. In fact, that is being complimentary. Second, each of Chelsea’s defenders is half the man they were last season. How long can the club cling to that lost hope? Third, without N’Golo Kante the midfield is a shambles.

And fourth, there is not a single chance that Chelsea keep Antonio Conte or Eden Hazard if this mess doesn’t improve.

Chelsea have talent in the squad but they are by no means the most talented team in a single competition they play. They made it through last year on effort, anger and graft. When they do not have those things they are simply mediocre. This group of impossibly ignorant juveniles are far too contented with themselves. No wonder they have been terrible after title triumphs twice in a row now. What a horrendous lack of mental fortitude.

If it were somehow possible, Chelsea would be best served by selling almost every player that started against AS Roma. They would then build a new club starting from the back. This Chelsea side lack spirit, fight and character. Without those things, what’s the point of football in the first place?

This 3-3 draw was an awful performance. Hopefully the board actually allow Antonio Conte to fix their near-decade of mistakes, rather than blame him for them.
