Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte, has claimed that he is not worried about getting the sack despite the Blues’ poor run of form in this season.

Chelsea have not made a great start to their Premier League title defence. They currently find themselves nine points behind Manchester City and could fall even further behind with a loss against Manchester United this weekend. Despite the poor results, Antonio Conte is not worried about his losing his job.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Sunday’s huge clash, the Italian addressed Roman Abramovich’s trip to the training ground this week.

"I am not worried. I am not worried about this situation. I continue to do my job and my work. I think my club is satisfied with the work I am doing, a really fantastic job at Chelsea, but football is strange."

After seemingly turning a corner against Watford two weekends ago, Chelsea suffered a setback midweek. AS Roma simply dismantled the Blues as they romped to a convincing 3-0 victory. While Chelsea should still qualify for the next stage of the Champions League, the performance was concerning.

City are currently running away with the title. United are the only team who have been able to keep within touching distance. After a vital win against Tottenham last Saturday, Jose Mourinho needs to find a way to get three points at Stamford Bridge.

Given Chelsea’s recent performances, United will be heavy favourites going into the contest. A loss would effectively end the Blues’ title defence. City host Arsenal this weekend and could head into the international break leading the defending champions by 12 points.

No matter how optimistic a fan you are, that is essentially insurmountable.

Conte will be hoping to snatch a victory to stay in the title race and assuage fears over his future. Abramovich has proven to be a ruthless owner in the past and he will wield the axe with scant regard for previous achievements.
