5 things learned from Chelsea’s dominant victory over Manchester United

2. Christensen brought calmness into the back three

Andreas Christensen was brought into the team in place of David Luiz, who had a horror show against AS Roma. Unlike Luiz he is much more calm and composed which really helped Chelsea’s defence as they were shipping in plenty of goals prior to this match.

His presence helped Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta to have full control and confidence in their roles as well. Romelu Lukaku was only able to touch the ball once inside Chelsea’s penalty box. Everything United tried to throw at Chelsea was cleared effectively.

Blues fans have been clamouring to see Christensen get more starts. On the back of a turbulent week, Conte was left with little option but to start the big Dane. Fortunately, the youngster showed a maturity and composure much beyond his 21 years. Christensen can truly be a great defender for the club.

Can he replicate John Terry’s career? He has certainly made a decent enough start.
