Alvaro Morata grabs a beer for the road and walks home amongst Chelsea fans if the Blues win. I don’t know why that’s news, but it is great to know.

Alvaro Morata broke his six game goal drought to bag the winner for Chelsea against Manchester United. His header added to a generally impressive start to life in the Premier League. Now, because the international break means slow news, we know that he disguises himself and walks home with Blues fans after games at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to radio broadcaster, Cadena Ser (via Daily Star), the Spaniard ignores the fuss and makes his short commute home under inconspicuously.

"There are times when the match ends and the road is closed and I walk. I change my clothes, I take off Chelsea kit because if not it’s impossible, I put on a hat and go home."

With his home apparently just minutes from Stamford Bridge, Morata blends into the Blues fans instead of waiting for the roads to clear. Even better, he’ll grab a beer for the road if Chelsea win.

"If we win the game I’ll take a beer for the road."

The striker has made a great start to the campaign, having scored seven times in Premier League play thus far. Morata has struck up an envious relationship with Cesar Azpilicueta, linking up on five occasions to hit the back of the net.

His efforts have certainly been deserving of a few beers, especially as his teammates have struggled to replicate their performances from last season.

Morata would have been relieved to end his mini-drought right before the international break. With a two week break from domestic football, having to dwell on his current form would have only been detrimental. Now, he can focus on picking up where he left off against Manchester United.

The Blues need a strong run through to the new year to stay in the hunt for the title. Manchester City are running away with it and look unstoppable. It would take something miraculous for Chelsea to defend their title. Morata will need to be a big part of that miracle.
