As we await the return of club football, the tabloids have taken the opportunity to discuss the possibility of Carlo Ancelotti replacing Antonio Conte at Chelsea.

Antonio Conte will seemingly never escape speculation surrounding his Chelsea future. The latest reports claim that the Blues have made contact with Carlo Ancelotti while suggesting that the incumbent boss is eyeing up a move to PSG.

The Metro cites Italian sources while claiming that Blues officials have sounded Ancelotti out regarding a Stamford Bridge return.

"On Wednesday, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Ancelotti’s main desire is to return to the Premier League and he has already been approached by both Chelsea and Arsenal."

The Daily Star, meanwhile, picks up a French report that suggests Conte is considering taking charge of AC Milan or PSG.

"According to French news outlet Le 10 Sport, he’s ready to pack his bags. It’s suggested AC Milan are also serious suitors for his signature. Conte is reportedly receptive to the idea of returning to his homeland. However, the former Juventus boss apparently favours the French capital."

Ever since Conte arrived, he has been dogged by constant rumours of an impending departure. He hasn’t helped the cause, speaking about his desire to return home in the immediate future. Furthermore, Chelsea’s disappointing transfer window only furnished stories of PALPABLE DISCORD behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge.

With the international break bringing untold boredom to the masses, there is definitely room to believe that these reports are being plucked out of thin air. However, the prospect of Ancelotti replacing Conte is not unimaginable.

Chelsea have a notoriously fast revolving door and after Jose Mourinho’s rehiring, there is little to say that Roman Abramovich won’t rehire Ancelotti. The Italian enjoyed a successful spell with the Blues in his first stint. He is also an expert in winning the Champions League – the trophy that Abramovich seems to crave most.
