Thibaut Courtois has refused to clear up any uncertainty surrounding his Chelsea future and risks angering fans by palming responsibility onto his agent.

The future of Thibaut Courtois has rarely been certain. The goalkeeper has been linked with a Real Madrid move for the last few years and has refused to shoot down the rumours. In his latest comments, he has once again avoided committing his future to Chelsea.

Speaking about his contract negotiations, Courtois simply palmed off any responsibility onto his agent.

Courtois has continually frustrated supporters by not committing his future to the club. Perhaps more frustratingly, he hasn’t left either. If a player doesn’t particularly want to be at Chelsea, Blues fans would rather he not be there at all.

Instead, Courtois has been the club’s number one goalkeeper while rumours about an impending departure constantly circle. The Belgium has been given opportunities to clear up this situation, but he never has. Simply put, he is ready to join Real Madrid as soon as they come calling.

The only problem is that they just haven’t. For all the speculation, there has been very little of substance. Courtois is holding out for a Real Madrid move that, frankly, looks increasingly unlikely with each passing day.

And yet the goalkeeper still dodges the question. If Courtois did want to stay, he wouldn’t be talking about his agent. Football fans, rightly or wrongly, value loyalty as much as anything else. Courtois doesn’t show any.

These latest comments will only go to further the divide between the Belgium and the Blues supporters. As long as he performs between the sticks, the relationship will last the rest of the season. But the number of people wanting to cash in over the summer will grow.
