Chelsea: Scouting Atletico Madrid’s form, strengths and weaknesses

3. Weaknesses

As with any of Europe’s elite sides, picking out an obvious weakness is not an easy task. However, Chelsea will be confident going into this one after the win in Madrid earlier on in the campaign.

On that occasion, Chelsea had a lot of joy through direct passes into Morata and Hazard and working off one another. Atletico will try to close off these avenues this time, but this could be an area for Chelsea to exploit again.

Also, if Atletico play 4-4-2 and Chelsea play 3-5-2 as expected, Chelsea will have the extra man in midfield which should help them take control of this game. Atletico like to play very narrow, with Koke and Carrasco tucking in from wide positions, so there should be space out wide for Chelsea’s wing-backs.
