Chelsea finished their Champions League group stage with a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid. The Spanish side took the lead in the second half through Saul before Eden Hazard’s brilliance helped Chelsea get the equalizer. The result means Chelsea will end the group as runners-up. Here are five takeaways from the encounter.

1. Eden Hazard is better than ever

Yet another match was blessed with Eden Hazard’s brilliance. Hazard again made a difference as Chelsea were looking for a equaliser. His shot hit the back of the net off Stefan Savic’s leg before the defender had even realised.

Eden Hazard completed 8 successful dribbles whereas Atletico Madrid as a whole competed just four. The opposition had no answer to his movement. It was yet another game where he was the standout performer.

Even though he started slowly after returning from the injury, he is now back to his best. He is arguably playing the best football of his career at the moment. Conte’s 3-5-2 formation is allowing him to flourish in a more advanced role. Chelsea should tie him to a new contract as soon as possible.
