Chelsea transfer news: Michy Batshuayi could leave while Willian insists he won’t
As the January rumour mill heats up, the latest reports claim that Chelsea could let Michy Batshuayi go on loan. Willian, though, is ‘happy’ in West London.
Due to Chelsea’s disappointing start to the season, the pressure is on to spend big in the January transfer window. As a result, the rumours are starting to fly. Michy Batshuayi may reportedly be used in a Thomas Lemar deal. Willian, meanwhile, has confirmed his contentment with his current role at Stamford Bridge.
According to The Telegraph, the Blues may include Batshuayi as a sweetener in a January offer for Monaco’s Lemar.
"Chelsea’s interest in Monaco star Thomas Lemar could open the door for Michy Batshuayi to leave the club on loan in the January transfer window – potentially in the opposite direction."
Batshuayi has failed to improve on last season’s role. He was very much an extra as Chelsea won the Premier League and he has barely been promoted to a supporting role this term. The Belgian is finding it impossible to gain Antonio Conte’s trust, with the boss opting to play Eden Hazard as a false nine instead of starting Batshuayi.

At this point, a loan almost seems inevitable. The striker needs playing time to improve and he just isn’t getting it at Stamford Bridge.
Chasing Lemar seems like a bad idea in the inflated January transfer window. However, if a Batshuayi loan can significantly bring down the price, the deal makes more sense.
Willian, meanwhile, has continued to be surrounded by transfer speculation. The Brazilian has been relegated to a backup role in recent months, naturally creating rumours about his future. After his impressive display against Huddersfield, the winger moved to quash the tabloid talk.
"I’m happy here and the fans can be calm. I’m always happy here at Chelsea. I really like this club a lot with my heart. Yeah, I’m very happy. – via Sky Sports"
If we were playing a ‘happy’ bingo drinking game, I’d be well on my way.
Willian’s comments do make him sound like someone who’s trying a bit too hard to say the right thing. The winger may not be on his way out this winter, but a decent offer could lead to his exit in the summer. The Blues may be looking at a significant shuffle come the end of the season anyway.
