Chelsea vs. Soton: Antonio Conte predicts suffering – what about you?
The Saints march their way to Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea hope to keep pace with the Premier League leaders. Before we swallow our pride and cheer for Tottenham to defeat Manchester City, we give our predictions for the Blues.
Antonio Conte gave one of his most cheery and chipper press conferences on Friday, saying his “expectation is for us to suffer. I have this sensation.” Well then. This should be a fun day for Chelsea.
Travis Tyler: Chelsea 1 – 0 Southampton. Conte is on to something by hyping Southampton up, but at the end of the day they struggle to score and are quietly tumbling down the table. They’ll give Chelsea a run for their money before the Blues find an breakthrough in the final 10 minutes.
Barrett Rouen: 2 – 1. Southampton are a good and well-organized side. They have a legitimate identity and will be hard for a recovering Alvaro Morata and the rest to break down, especially as N’Golo Kante looks more tired than a marathon runner at the moment.
Shivansh Sareen: 2 – 1. Boufal gives Southampton the lead. Morata equalizes from an Eden Hazard cross. Morata returns the favor in the second half as Hazard scores the winner.
Must Read: Antonio Conte will keep the false-nine 3-4-3 as Plan C (maybe B.5)
Abhishek Pancholi: 2 – 0. Southampton’s attack is useless, despite the Pep-meister insisting otherwise. Chelsea should find no trouble dispatching the Saints with ease. Hazard to get on the scoresheet once more.
Hugo Amaya: 1 – 0. Conte will feel confident on the back of Tuesday’s win, but Southampton will give the Blues a run for their money. Southampton will scare Conte more than once during the game but a goal from a corner will be enough to get Chelsea the three points.
Ollie Miller: 2 – 1. Austin to score first before Hazard and Andreas Christensen score two in the second half. Christensen from 45 yards.
Vishnu Raj: 3 – 1. The Blues are really good at home lately. Morata and Hazard to score. Willian will add the third goal to continue his good run. Chelsea will concede a goal, since they always find a way to concede a goal somehow.
Kevin Peacock: Having blipped against West Ham, Chelsea go on a mini winning run. Southampton raise their game at the Bridge, having had a poor season so far, but goals from Morata and Willian see Antonio Conte’s team win 2-0.
Scott Brant: 2 – 0. Really hoping for a clean sheet here today, allowing Courtois to announce his presence. Looking for a healthy Morata upfront, and a not-so-dejected Conte on the touchline. Eden Hazard with MOTM.
Next: Tiemoue Bakayoko best alongside N'Golo Kante in 3-4-3
