Attack

Brazil. WILLIAN . 7.5. Willian was not quite as brilliant as he has been in recent games, but he was still far and away Chelsea’s best forward. He continued to do all the things the club need from him, including a sublime pass to Alvaro Morata to set up the opening goal. He appeared to pick up a knock at the end of regular time, making way for Pedro.
. 22

6.5. Perhaps it was being dropped against Barcelona. Perhaps it was being left out from the Spanish national squad. Maybe he just lifted himself out of his doldrums, or maybe Antonio Conte threatened him and his entire family. Whatever the motivation, Morata took a big step towards being the striker he was a few months ago. Leicester’s centre-backs targeted him all game and Morata, to his credit, stayed on his feet longer and under heavier blows than he has all season. He made a real effort to keep himself involved, as well as simply vertical. And when his moment came, he disproved all of us who had flashes of Fernando Torres by scoring a quintessential striker’s goal for 1-0. Our relief was exceeded only by his own.
. 9. Spain. ALVARO MORATA

3. Still want him, Real Madrid? The price is dropping by the week. Call now! No reasonable offers will be refused!
. 10. Belgium. EDEN HAZARD

Substitutes

This was not the game for Cesc Fabregas. The play was too back-and-forth, Leicester’s runs were too fast and their press too quick for Fabregas to do anything of note. The Foxes recognized what a vulnerability he created and shifted their attacks from the flanks to the central to target the Spaniard. They breezed past him almost as easily as Lionel Messi did, which says more about Fabregas than Barcelona. Chelsea sorely needed Danny Drinkwater or Ross Barkley if Bakayoko was not going to play the full 90.
. 4. Spain. CESC FABREGAS. 4

11. Spain. PEDRO . 7.5. Pedro scored the fifth header of his career on what may be the shortest goal in Premier League history. N’Golo Kante had the assist, for a combined height of 338 centimeters (11 feet, .67 inches). Pedro was in solid form for all of extra time, matching Leicester’s frenetic press with his own unique blend.

6. Cahill helped keep Leicester from scoring another equalizer, but had little impact beyond that. This will be a tough few weeks for the captain, staying behind while the Three Lions go on without him with a top performance from Antonio Rudiger fresh in his mind. Hopefully he will spend eight hours a day at Cobham to earn and prove his way back.
. 24. England. GARY CAHILL

5. In the dying minutes of extra time Olivier Giroud broke down the left as Eden Hazard cut into the centre. Rather than take the ball to the corner, hold up the play to allow the rest of the Blues to join in or make a purposeful move towards Hazard or the goal, Giroud sent a long floating pass across the pitch. Leicester recovered and brought the play back the other direction. It was one of the least intelligent plays you will ever see, and had Leicester scored on the counter Conte would rightly have pulled Giroud off the pitch by his beard. Giroud has to have the brains to go with the looks.
. 18. France. OLIVIER GIROUD
