Chelsea have recovered from their slump that stretched throughout 2018. Now after three wins in a row, they can still finish with a trophy and a berth in the Champions League – if everything goes their way.

Chelsea’s recent results have provided fans with something to be excited about. With just four games to go the Blues still have a chance to finish inside the top four. Not to forget the FA Cup final on May 19.

As recently as two weeks ago, Chelsea fans faced up to the fact their team will be playing only the Europa League. But right now there is a glimmer of a hope with Spurs just five points ahead. It will be a huge task for Spurs to bottle such a lead with just four matches remaining. But Spurs’ current run of a draw and two losses in three games – including their FA Cup exit to Manchester United – goes in Chelsea’s favor.

Another team Chelsea could set their eyes on is Liverpool, who are currently ahead of them by eight points. But there is catch. Chelsea have a match in hand, and they will face each other at Stamford Bridge on May 5. If the Blues can overcome Liverpool along with the rest of their remaining games, the point difference could be down to just two. Liverpool, who have one foot in the Champions League final, could turn all their attention towards Europe and hamper their results in the Premier League.

As things stand, Chelsea are still not out of Champions League contention. Even if Spurs and Liverpool drop points, the Blues likely need to win all their remaining fixtures to have any chance. Failing to win even one match could be the curtain.

Fun Fact: Chelsea won the UEFA Champions League on May 19, the same date the FA Cup final is taking place.

One achievement that does not need any outside help is winning the FA Cup. They failed to capture the title last year. This year Antonio Conte’s side have yet another opportunity.

Jose Mourinho’s squad features many former Chelsea players and staff. The prospect of facing them will be an extra motivation for both Conte and the players. The players could also learn a thing or two from Olivier Giroud. He knows what it takes to win the FA Cup, having won it thrice with Arsenal.

Ending the season with a trophy as the whole world switches their attention to the World Cup will be a better finish than one without. If a Champions League spot is guaranteed alongside it, the Blues will have a perfect ending, considering how bleak things were 2-3 months ago.
