Chelsea vs. Huddersfield: Predicting a Blues win to push top-four hopes
A win over Huddersfield can combine with an act of Spursiness to put Chelsea in the driver’s seat for a top-four finish. Will the Blues overcome a resolute pack of Terriers who are battling to stay in the top flight?
By the end of the day on Wednesday Chelsea could be in control of their own destiny going into the final weekend. A win at Stamford Bridge along with a Tottenham loss to Newcastle would put the Blues one point ahead of Spurs and level with Liverpool. With two games left, we can only take things one game at a time.
Barrett Rouen: Chelsea 2 – 1 Huddersfield Town. Huddersfield are not going to be as easy to beat as people think. They’re in a particularly dangerous position and will be fighting harder than any of Chelsea’s softies tend to. Hopefully, they pull this one out because they need to… but no one really knows.
Khaled Abdallah: 1 – 0. A grind-it-out affair as Huddersfield is desperate for breathing room from the drop zone after Southampton’s win over Swansea City. The Terriers will park several buses in front of goal and hope to replicate their performance at Manchester City last weekend.
Scott Brant: 2 – 0. Going for another clean sheet. Hopefully Alvaro Morata will start and shine. Chelsea need him to reach Giroud’s current form and effort. One in the first half from Morata and one in the second for Willian.
Hugo Amaya: 2 – 0. The team is fired up and ready to take top four in the Premier League. The Blues will dominate the game and score a well-crfted goal. Although Huddersfield will put up a good fight and scare everyone more than once, it will be Chelsea who come out with the three points.
Kevin Peacock: 3 – 0. An easier win for Chelsea than most think. A month ago, Conte’s team were in relegation form. Now, the tide has turned. The defence has been tightened up with the return of Gary Cahill to his more favoured central defensive position. Olivier Giroud has been a breath of fresh air in a stagnant dressing room.
Abhishek Pancholi: 3 – 1. A freak goal conceded by the defence sparks Chelsea into action and they pummel Huddersfield. Three goals would be a decent return against a team struggling to survive in the league.
Daniel Mcclue: 1 – 1. Huddersfield suddenly have a whole lot to fight for, but a point should see them safe into next season. They’ve done well against the big teams this season and not so well against average teams. So Chelsea should be fine, then, badum-tss.
Shivansh Sareen: 3 – 1. Conte inexplicably chooses Morata ahead of Giroud, but the Spaniard returns his faith by finding the back of the net twice before Hazard makes the three points certain. Chelsea concede a lazy late goal on a counter-attack in the dying embers of the game.
