Chelsea: Dream transfer targets to buy with an Eden Hazard-sized pile of cash
3. Vishnu Raj: Raid Real Madrid, strengthen elsewhere through selling
Eden Hazard should command Chelsea something around £125 million. Fans love throwing in names like Dybala and Dembele, but Juventus and Barcelona are not crazy enough to sell someone who is going to remain their top player for the next 10 years.
If Real Madrid signs Hazard, one among Isco or Marco Asensio will be dropped to the bench, and he represents the player I would go for as Chelsea’s technical director.
It would be more adequate to concentrate on one or maximum two players. We know what happened when some other clubs bought a bunch of players.
Chelsea Christian Pulisic coming. They can promote Reece James in place of Davide Zappacosta at right back. Moreover, there is Hudson-Odoi, who should be playing more often starting next season ahead of players like Willian, who I will sell on the first day of the transfer window.
With the price of Zappacosta and Willian, the blues can go for someone like Callum Wilson or promote Tammy Abraham as a replacement for Olivier Giroud who could be moving on.
4. Scott Brant: Buy ’em young
When Hazard moves on, and he will, the money left behind will shape Chelsea for a couple years to come. It is worrisome knowing what we know about the board and how they invest in players, if they do so at all.
I would find young players that look to be very promising, big stars. I know that sounds so easy, (“just buy them young before everyone knows they are world class”). But seriously, why not take a chance on a Luka Jovic or Harvey Barnes, who looked explosive at the weekend versus Manchester United and is a promising player.
Those two plus Pulisic are three additions of hungry players that are all 20-21 years of age. I want more competition among the players in the XI, more youth. I know, I am losing it, it is Chelsea. But windows of players that do not start or get loaned immediately are useless.
