Jorginho, the regular scapegoat of Sarrismo, is always the one that catches the blame for bad Chelsea performances. What about now that he has won one?

There are three certainties in life: death, taxes and Jorginho being blamed for a bad Chelsea performance.

Jorginho was just as much at blame as the rest of the Chelsea squad for the club’s recent poor performances. However, he seems to be held to a different standard with Chelsea fans because he is “Maurizio Sarri’s boy”. Jorginho is Sarri’s on-field coach, instructing and trying to implement the Sarrismo that they played beautifully at Napoli in Serie A.

Unfortunately, the Serie A and Premier League are vastly different. The pace and physicality of the Premier League is different from any other league in the world. Simply put, Sarrismo was never going to be implemented overnight. Jorginho knows and plays in the system very well but he is trying to teach it to a lot of other Chelsea players who have had counter attacking, defensive managers for years now.

So, now, when Jorginho scores the winning goal for Chelsea, where are the haters? They have disappeared.

It was not even just the goal today. The past few performances for Chelsea have truly shown how great of a player Jorginho can be. He played wonderfully against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup Final and played the regista role perfectly. His tackling, ability to win the ball, and vision have all improved massively in the past few weeks.

It was fitting that Jorginho finally got on the score  sheet with a big winning goal for a Chelsea team that needs to find some momentum. He took a beautiful lay off from Eden Hazard in acres of space at the top of the box to place his shot into the upper right corner past the Fulham keeper. It was a shot he had attempted several times already this season and on the day it came off. Practice makes perfect.

Jorginho will never be the player that is providing goals and assists game in and game out as someone like Frank Lampard used to. That is just not his game. Rewatch a few Chelsea matches and pay attention to the pass before an assist and often times it is Jorginho. He pulls the strings wonderfully for Chelsea, but some fans think it is not good enough because it does not show up on the score sheet or the stats sheet.

The Italian is wonderful in tight spaces and has showed his passing prowess this season. To be honest, he is very unlucky to not have at least five assists this season. He will only get better as this Chelsea squad continues to try to work through the growing pains of Sarrismo.
