11 April: Slavia Prague Away

Prague showed Sevilla that they would not back down home or away despite being underdogs. It saw them trade goal for goal before pulling away at the end. The Blues will have the advantage of gaining away goals in the first leg but rotation will be risky. The weekend match makes staring a first choice XI even trickier so Maurizio Sarri will have some thinking to do.

14 April: Liverpool Away

Chelsea performed very well in back to back fixtures against Liverpool earlier in the season. Even then, Liverpool was not playing nearly as well as last season but they have become much better at grinding out results. Steven Gerrard’s slip will be front and center in their minds and this will be as much of a psychological battle as a tactical one.

18 April: Slavia Prague at Home

Ideally, Chelsea will either enter this one having won the away leg or at the very least gotten a few away goals in a draw. Again, Prague showed they are not to be underestimated. Chelsea may be the favorites, but a lot of factors will play into whether Chelsea can pull out a comfortable victory.

22 April: Burnley at Home

It seems really strange to say Burnley is fighting for their Premier League survival but they really are. Whatever secret sauce Sean Dyche had to get them into a Europa League spot has faded as they have reverted to their statistical means. This match is last of the weekend (it is actually on Monday) so both sides will know where a result will put them. The Blues need to break the bus while watching their backs.

28 April: Manchester United Away

This is basically the match that needs to be circled heavily on the calendar for everyone. It is hard to tell how the top four race will be going this far out, but it can be very easily assumed that whoever loses this match will find themselves on the outside of top four looking in. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United is not quite as red hot as it was but they still pose a significant challenge to Chelsea. Lose this one, and top four can be more or less written off as a valid path to Champions League.
