Unless you’ve been living under a rock, or have better things going on in your life, you may have noticed that FIFA 20 is out. We dive deep into the ratings for Chelsea’s goalkeepers and defenders.

There have been a lot of incomings and outgoings at Chelsea despite the transfer ban, so that’s something to look forward to in FIFA 20. More importantly, we now know how a year of Sarriball has affected the players’ ratings in FIFA which is, without a doubt, the most unerringly accurate depiction of real-life abilities and skills. Let’s go!

Kepa Arrizabalaga: FIFA 19: 83 / FIFA 20: 84

Kepa Arrizabalaga had an eventful first year at Chelsea, dethroning David De Gea as Spain’s number one goalkeeper and winning the Europa League. That has resulted in an increase of just one point in his overall rating.

However, there has been a big jump in his kicking stats, going up to 86 from last year’s 76. That means you can be assured of long punts from your keeper finding your wingers on either flank, which would make his former manager spit his cigarette butts out in disgust.

At the time of writing, Kepa did not refuse to be substituted both times we tried to take him off. Maybe he only does that to chain-smoking Italians who don’t understand what it’s like to play in a cup final, even if it is on one leg.

Willy Caballero: 76 / 75

Poor Willy Caballero was the unfortunate casualty of Arrizabalaga’s open insubordination in the Carabao Cup final, all dressed up with nowhere to go. A bit like a groom left standing at the altar, being watched by millions.

But even worse than that, it’s Father Time that has caught up to him, causing a drop in his stats all across the board.

Let’s be honest, you won’t be using him in your Ultimate Team and would probably ship him out in the first transfer window in Career Mode. Which is what is likely to happen to him at the end of this season at Chelsea.

Jamie Cumming: NA / 54

The up and coming (pardon the pun) goalkeeper from the famous Chelsea academy is likely to see first team minutes at some stage this season. That would set him up nicely for a loan to a lower division team next season.

You won’t find any use for him in FIFA unless you’re the type who has the patience to play 10 seasons in Career Mode, waiting for a youth prospect to blossom. Everyone else can move on.
