Swap deals are notoriously hard to complete due to the sheer number of factors to consider. Since silly season is in full swing, here are some silly swap deals that would put Chelsea back on top of the world transfer market.

Chelsea were the leaders of the transfer market back in 2006, seemingly signing every player on the wish list with Roman Abramovich’s endless rubles. The club would waste money by overpaying in a lot of scenarios but, once in a while, would strike an absolute gem of a deal. The swap deal involving William Gallas and £5 million for the greatest left back of all-time was the epitome of perfect transfer activity

Frank Lampard has a transfer target list as long as his fringe player list, making the chance to explore swap deals an interesting one. Let’s take a dream on a few.

1. Michy Batshuayi + Cash :: Timo Werner

Timo Werner’s release clause is a topic of heavy debate these days, with rumors ranging from no clause at all to £50 million. There is general agreement, though, about Werner’s quality and Chelsea’s need of a new striker. The German’s nimble dribbling with his overall quickness would give Chelsea another attacking outlet the team desperately needs.

Michy Batshuayi’s lack of game time this season has seemingly confirmed he will never be the main man at Chelsea. His lack contribution to the overall play has meant he is forever stuck with a bench role, something he should thankful for after a woeful performance against lowly Nottingham Forest.

He has failed to convince a third Chelsea manager of his value for the squad and looks destined to leave.

However, there was a brief period of time when he had Germany convinced that he was one of the best strikers in the world.

Chelsea could use Batshuyai’s successful spell at Borussia Dortmund to offload him to RB Leipzig in a deal for Werner. Batshuayi would reduce the cash price and give Leipzig a ready replacement in the process.

Leading the line for a club on an upward trajectory, challenging for the Bundesliga and playing in Europe would no doubt be a tempting opportunity for Batshuayi.
