Chelsea could not bring in a new striker in January so they could not let him leave. Frank Lampard should let Olivier Giroud unleash his frustrations against Leicester City and seal a result.

After another disappointing transfer window, the Blues take on Leicester City. Chelsea could be without their best goalscorer in Tammy Abraham. Frank Lampard made it very unclear at his press conference if Abraham would be ready to play. Meanwhile, Leicester just got their goalscorer, Jamie Vardy, back.

The Foxes are struggling a bit as of late, losing three of their last five in all competitions, while the Blues have struggled to put teams away. Lampard has mentioned numerous times they can’t practice finishing in training anymore than they have already.

With Tammy Abraham questionable, is this the match we see Olivier Giroud start?

I hope so, as he could really have an impact on the match. There has to be a chip firmly planted on the Frenchman’s shoulder this season. He has sat for most of it, continued to train and be ready for the club. He asked for a transfer since he has seen next to no minutes, and he was not granted that wish.

What better time for Frank Lampard to sit Giroud down and say “I am sorry, I tried to get someone in so you could go, but instead I am going to start you against Leicester. Go show the board why it would have been a mistake to let you leave”.

I just can’t imagine a better time to let him loose. He has to be filled with motivation and frustration, just straining at the bit to play on the pitch.

Chelsea could use all the help they can get up front. While they haven’t exactly been tearing up the charts, thanks to some help from the opponents chasing us, there is still a six point gap between fourth and fifth.

With both teams looking a bit lackluster as of late, the odds are exactly what they should be. Leicester City are favorites on The Action Network at +158, while Chelsea are close with +173.

With both teams being plus, it’s clear the betting public isn’t sure what’s going to happen. The three most likely results by odds are Foxes 2-1, 1-1 draw, and Blues 2-1. And my rule any time the odds to win are plus for both teams, and the odds to win are so close to those for the draw (+262), I take the draw.

Look for a reserved kind of match, the type where no one wants to be the first to make a mistake. Leicester will likely score first, and the Blues will be gifted a goal that is finished by none other than Olivier Giroud.
