Chelsea predicted XI for Manchester United: Finally a game
By Travis Tyler
Callum Hudson-Odoi, 20, Left wing, England
Hudson-Odoi needs to use the Hakim Ziyech signing as motivation going into this match. Sure, it is possible that Ziyech was brought in to play in midfield, but much of his best work has come on the wing. Hudson-Odoi could always swap to the left, but he will know regardless that only two wingers will play at a time. With Christian Pulisic still out injured, only Hudson-Odoi has a chance to make his case.
Tammy Abraham, 9, Striker, England
Lampard said Abraham would be evaluated, which is Lampardese for “he will absolutely start because the other options just are not it”. It was clear against Leicester City, in a similar situation, that Abraham was still feeling the effects of his injury despite his playing decently. It is not a good place to be in, but Abraham will need to push through the pain because the board could not find a good enough solution in January.
Willian, 10, Right wing, Brazil
The Ziyech signing immediately raised questions about Willian and Pedro’s futures, but Pedro was already leaving and that opened up the spot for Ziyech. Now, if anyone else signs, that would put Willian’s in doubt but for now he is locked in as one of the team’s veterans. He has been quietly leading from the front this season and Chelsea could still use that next season, even if not from the start.
