4. Tiemoue Bakayoko, 2017/18: 43 appearances, 3 goals, 3 assists

Somehow still a Chelsea player, if only on paper, Tiemoue Bakayoko came over as part of Monaco’s fire sale after winning Ligue 1 in 2016/17.

Having joined Chelsea off the back of their own league title under Antonio Conte, Bakayoko was never able to adequately replace Nemanja Matic as a holding midfielder in Conte’s 3-4-3. He mostly came off as an excellent athlete with relatively little footballing ability.

After proving unsuitable at Chelsea, he was loaned to AC Milan, where he was similarly unimpressive, before eventually returning to Monaco.

His mentality has proven to be as much of an issue as his actual performances, which will only make it harder for Chelsea to secure a decent price for his inevitable departure. To his credit, he had that awesome blue hair for a while, making him more notable than some others on this list. Looking back, I would have rather taken Kylian Mbappe, personally.
