The lock down has greatly changed things in football, but many Chelsea players will have found it at the right time for them to benefit as players.

With the Bundesliga set to resume next weekend, the Premier League has begun its plans to restart the season. The League has been on pause since the round of fixtures ending on 9 March due to the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

As fans and players of the Premier League continue to look forward to its return, it is time to look at which Chelsea players benefitted from this long break and which ones did not. Several Chelsea players have used this time to recover from injuries suffered prior to the imposed quarantine. On the other hand, there are some players for whom the pause in football came at the worst possible time.

1. N’Golo Kante finally got a chance to heal

No Chelsea player will have benefited more from this break than N’Golo Kante. Having missed just under 50 percent of Chelsea’s fixtures this season due to injuries, Kante has taken this time to fully recover from several injuries, the most recent of which was a hamstring injury suffered in a game against Manchester United back in February.

Kante has been plagued with injuries ever since last year’s Europa League Final against Arsenal, in which Kante played with a knee injury that later ruled him out of this year’s pre-season. This break has not only given him an opportunity to recover from injuries, but also build fitness and get some much needed rest ahead of an extremely busy year of football.
