2. Ben Foster-Gabe Henderson

Watford’s Ben Foster would be a solid pick up for Chelsea should the opportunity present itself. Foster is everything you’d want in a number two keeper. He has got experience, he is talented and he is English, which is a huge boost to the homegrown numbers. Foster is the current starter for Watford, but at age 37, it is unlikely he retains the spot much longer. He has spent his entire career in England and is already in the London area, so logistically, a move to Chelsea makes sense for Foster.

However, the deal breaker is going to be whether or not he is willing to accept a second-choice role. This is also assuming Willy Caballero leaves. If Caballero decides to stick around, the Blues would still be smart to bring Foster in as a third keeper, but the likelihood of that happening is slim-to-none. Few keepers are okay with going from starter to never seeing the light of day as a third-choice goalie.

Additionally, Foster could likely go to a Championship or League One squad in need of a cheap option to start between the sticks. Those are all options available to the veteran keeper. The only thing Chelsea can control about the situation is its interest. If Foster makes himself available as a backup option, the Blues would be foolish not to take a flyer.
