Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi has been cleared by the police, but his luck takes an unlucky turn as he picks up another knock in training.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is one of the only Chelsea players to not feature in the Blues’ closed-door friendly against Reading. While many speculated it was due to his legal issues, the winger missed the friendly and multiple training sessions due to a slight knock he picked up.

Hudson-Odoi announced his name was cleared following a thorough investigation on social media Saturday. Unfortunately for the young star, despite the legal fight being behind him, he is still not able to return to the pitch quite yet due to the injury he sustained earlier in the week.

After weeks of training and trying to return to match fitness, it was bound to happen. At least one Chelsea player was going to sustain an injury in training. Unfortunately, Hudson-Odoi’s luck has taken another turn for the worst as he’s the individual who picked up the knock. The 19-year-old is expected to miss the Blues’ first match back in action against Aston Villa.

Hudson-Odoi spent the first part of the season fully recovering from a ruptured Achilles suffered last season. He’s struggled to return to full fitness though, as he’s missed eight games by virtue of a knock and a hamstring injury. Further, Hudson-Odoi was the first English footballer to publicly announce he had the Coronavirus. All serious medical issues seem to be behind him, which is a wonderful thing.

Luckily for the England international, this injury seems to be incredibly minor. He’ll be training again with the first team within a matter of days, pending any further setback. Hudson-Odoi has had a few moments of brilliance this season, but has largely struggled to find his footing. Under Maurizio Sarri, Hudson-Odoi came into his own and established himself as one of the best young talents in Europe.

Next. A long and fruitless pursuit of Ben Chilwell is too much like Chelsea of old. dark

If he can keep a clean bill of health, he could return to that form in the home stretch of the season and show Chelsea fans he’s deserving of a starting role before he falls too far down the pecking order. The 19-year-old is one of the most sensational attacking threats in the team, let’s just hope he can stay healthy.
