4. Momentum is very much a thing

With home and away not really mattering, getting off to a good start is very important. Momentum is carrying many clubs in the Bundesliga and that bites both ways.

Bayern Munich being Bayern Munich obviously entered into the Covid break on a good run of form. Their first game back was a struggle (as it was with every club) but they quickly built on an initial win. While they still do not look like a full swing Bayern side, they also look quite unbeatable in every match they play.

Schalke is the exact opposite. They entered the break in a bad run of form, but returning to get absolutely smacked by Dortmund surely did not help. Schalke should not be struggling as much as they are, but they do not look capable of winning at all.

Momentum is going to be vital when things resume in the Premier League. If Chelsea starts hot, it will be much easier to stay hot. But even one slip can derail everything as the Bundesliga has shown.

5. It will feel like preseason until it is preseason

As just mentioned, Bayern is winning without really looking sharp. That is to be expected after so much time off but even this many match days in, Bayern still feels like they are in preseason.

With the matches coming thick and fast, the season will return and be over in the blink of an eye. And then it will be preseason already. The play in the Bundesliga has been fine, but it very much has that preseason vibe. By the time it ends, it will probably still have that preseason vibe. Then it will be preseason and the whole show starts over again.

Premier League fans need to be prepared for that. That 4-0 win over Everton? Cherish it, because the Blues will not likely hit those heights again this season. That is okay, but it is best to temper the expectations now.

Next. Chelsea's future fluidity can be a strength and a weakness. dark
