Chelsea predicted XI vs. Man City: Lampard sticks with 4-3-3 for clash
Willian (No. 10) Right winger, Brazil
Willian needs to improve his corner-taking skills, but he should be expected to still start because he helps Chelsea stretch the pitch. His ball retention would also help Chelsea in counter-attacks and chance creation.
Willian is often compared to many wingers who do not have the same role as he does in a team. He performs his role in Chelsea’s game very well, and he does not get enough credit for it. Willian leads Chelsea in many categories—like key passes and chance creation per match. The Brazilian has done his best to keep Chelsea at the level it has been at this season. Add to this the fact that Chelsea is playing many players under the age of 21, the Blues need the maturity that Willian brings to the table.
Christian Pulisic (No. 22) Left winger, United States
Pulisic has been very consistent for Chelsea this season, scoring six goals and assisting two. He has come into games this season on more than one occasion and changed the game completely. Lampard has handled his fitness and integration well. For a Premier League debutant, Pulisic is not doing badly at all and his ability to quickly impact matches will see him get the nod against City.
Tammy Abraham (No. 9) Striker, England
Abraham is Chelsea’s highest goal scorer this season. In order for Chelsea to beat City, the Blues will need goals and Abraham has been more consistent than any one of his teammates on this front, even while not being terribly consistent himself. Abraham, apart from technical quality, also offers a physical presence for Chelsea in City’s penalty area. His link-up play and ability to get in behind means he offers the Blues the opportunity to play in many different styles, as well.
