Willian (Right winger): 9

One of two perfect scores from this match, Willian was phenomenal. Whether he was tracking back on defense or breaking a counter, the Brazilian gave it his all. Here we are after another match where Willian left it all out on the pitch. His penalty was glorious and his free-kick a stroke of genius. Willian’s brace was a talking point, but he put in a solid shift all around. Re-signing the 31-year-old wasn’t on the table a few months ago, but a resurgence under Lampard may just leave that door ajar for Willian should he so choose.

Tammy Abraham (Striker): 3

Awful. Abraham didn’t get an abundance of good chances, but when he did have the ball, he seldom did anything with it. His hold-up play was weak, aerials were sub-par and his passing was a cause for concern. Another game without a goal for the youngster and now, his starting spot is in serious danger.

Christian Pulisic (Left winger): 9

Pulisic put in yet another Man of the Match performance for Chelsea. The 21-year-old looked one of the only lively players on the pitch on Wednesday. Although he could’ve made more of his opportunities, Pulisic’s earning of a penalty and free kick set-up Willian for his brace. The dynamic duo is destroying opposing defenses on the wings, if only other positions could match their effort levels, pace and overall abilities.

Olivier Giroud (Striker): 3

Giroud wasn’t much better than Abraham. He got into better positions, but still mis-hit a majority of the balls that landed at his feet. If it weren’t for the Blues splurging on Timo Werner, the supporters would be calling for the board’s removal due to gross incompetence. However, that is not the cace.

In the end—and on a more serious note—the Blues fumbled a massive chance on Wednesday. Getting beat in both league fixtures by West Ham is something that should never happen to Chelsea. Unfortunately, the Hammers were the far better side than the Blues today. The game is said and done, onto the next.

While not everybody will agree on the player ratings, there is one thing all Chelsea fans can agree on tonight: the 2020/21 kits are a thing of beauty in actuality. Some Jedi mind tricks are being played on fans with the leaks, but for some odd and indescribable reason, the jerseys look better in matches.
