3. Teemu Pukki is looking forward to playing Chelsea

A game against Chelsea not only turns the most average goalkeepers into prime Lev Yashin, but it also revitalizes strikers who have been going through a rough patch of late. Enter Teemu Pukki, the Premier League Player of the Month for August, who hasn’t notched a goal since January.

This might be the perfect game at the perfect time for the Norwich striker to finish his season with a flourish. Chelsea needs to be very wary of a team that has nothing to lose and a player that has everything to gain.

4. Reece James and the pursuit of sloppiness

Reece James is a generational talent. But a player cannot rely on talent alone to reach the top. Reece James is obviously the long term right back at Chelsea and his crosses are inch perfect, but he needs to sort something out before he can be the undisputed first choice.

In case it hasn’t been noticed, James has a tendency to be a bit too casual when he has the ball, and it drives everyone nuts. Nine times out of 10, James will dawdle on the ball, inviting pressure from the opposition. This pressure inevitably leads to a turnover and a counterattack. Instead of aggressively pursuing the attacker, the young James jogs alongside his opponent until one of his teammates can do the dirty work of dispossessing or making a tackle.

Frank Lampard also noticed this when, without naming names, he pointed out that his players need to sprint, not jog when they’re wearing the Chelsea shirt. If James plays, the Norwich game will be a good test of his learning ability. If he repeats the same mistakes, someone needs to remind him that one highly specialized skill, and not much else, is not enough to stay in this Chelsea team. Just ask Marcos Alonso.
