Chelsea predicted XI at Anfield: 3-4-3 makes a return
Willian (No. 10) Right winger, Brazil
Willian does need a rest, it’s just not possible for him to get it before the end of the season. If Chelsea goes into any game without Willian, they Blues are practically begging to lose. Who’d have thought that would be said in 2020? Willian has been a pillar at Chelsea this season, setting wonderful examples with his work rate and professionalism. He’s helped Chelsea cope with the loss of Eden Hazard, both on and off the pitch.
Olivier Giroud (No. 18) Striker, France
We’re running of positive words to describe Giroud, and we hardly run out of words around these parts. If Giroud had left Chelsea in January, the Blues would have been in a jam, especially if he had not been replaced. At a time when Chelsea has needed crucial goals, Giroud has stepped up despite being sidelined for a worrying length of time at the beginning of the year. Professional. Reliable. Old like fine wine. Olivier Giroud.
Christian Pulisic (No. 22) Left winger, United States
Frank Lampard decided to rest Pulisic against Man United and he got away with it. Pulisic would be well rested to cause Liverpool 40 colors of trouble after spending the entirety of the FA Cup semifinal on the bench. Liverpool has been below-par since the the Reds were confirmed champions, which to be fair to them, is the best time to be below-par. Any hope that Liverpool would not be up for this match is a fallacy, we’re Chelsea, they’re Liverpool—they will always be up for it. Plus, they’d want to have their revenge after the FA Cup elimination.
