Reece James (Right wing back): 7

James put in another solid performance today. He seems to have regained his form from before the lock down, and with Azpilicueta out with a hamstring injury, looks destined to start against Bayern Munich next week. Unfortunately he could not get involved in the offensive phase as much as he would have liked, but it was a good performance overall.

Jorginho (Midfielder): 5

Jorginho started the game well, exchanging some nice passes with his midfield compatriot Mateo Kovacic. However, since Arsenal pressed high for the majority of the game, Chelsea was unable to play out from the back for the most part which did not play to Jorginho’s favor.

Mateo Kovacic (Midfielder): 5

Taylor’s decision to send off Kovacic changed the whole complexion of the game. It made it extremely hard for Chelsea to find a way to come back into the game. Prior to his sending off however, Kovacic was silky as ever, managing to beat the press on almost every occasion. That being said, Lampard will be disappointed with some of his passing in the final third.

Marcos Alonso (Left Wing Back): 4

Marcus Alonso was anonymous for the majority of the game. The main reason Chelsea plays a 3-4-3 formation Is to bring the best out of Alonso in an attacking sense and to negate his defensive frailties. Neither was achieved today with him failing to make an impact in the final third and allowing Nicolas Pepe and Hector Bellerin acres of space in behind on the left.

Ross Barkley (Midfielder/Substitute): N/A

Ross Barkley failed to make the impact that Lampard would have desired from him. However, to be fair to him, coming on a goal down and a man down is always a difficult situation.
