2. Lampard vs. Antonio Conte

Antonio Conte was a charismatic winner, but one that was set on his own ways. Conte arrived and made a miracle out of a disaster. His Premier League winning season was nothing short of genius, but after that he was too set on his way and declined to evolve.

During Conte’s second season, the current Inter Milan manager was losing his grip on the squad, and any chance to win the title again. This was due to his constant stubbornness to maintain a couple set tactics. While these tactics were effective in the previous season, they were not difficult for opposition managers to figure out during the third go around.

On top of that, Conte was dealing with constant injuries and players underperforming. While it is true the Chelsea board should have given Conte the reinforcements he requested, the Italian should have worked with what he had in different ways and capacities.

Lastly, his energetic personality on the sideline seemed to be just an act. Conte’s sideline antics were loved by every single fan. The shouting; the celebrating with fans; the altercations with other managers; it was all entertaining until performances went south. After that, it was all about blaming the transfer market, his players and the club.

In contrast, Lampard—whom is also a winner—seems to be flexible and understanding. As one of the best midfielders the Premier League has ever seen, Lampard knows that just because a game plan worked in one game, does not mean it will work in the next. Lampard has changed formations during big games in order to get the best of his players and he has also led players to perform in different roles that help the team succeed.

On top of it all, Lampard’s energy is not only what he does in front of the camera, but what he tries to implement into the players behind closed doors. This translates into the great and promising performances, as well a revitalized attitude from the players.
