2. 2020/2021

Thanks to the rise and role of social media into today’s society, this transfer window has been like no other for Chelsea. Opposing supporters, as much as Chelsea’s own, have marveled and remarked on the business down by the Blues as the hype around the Frank Lampard revolution intensifies.

Technically, their negotiations began back in January 2020, when they agreed on terms with Hakim Ziyech. The magical Moroccan had earned attention at Ajax, in particular his artistry in Europe that lead the Dutch side to the semi-finals and a domestic double.

Timo Werner also put pen to paper before the summer window had officially opened, one of the most sought after strikers in the world opting for Chelsea despite keen interest from other big-name parties. Incredibly, if you combine Ziyech and Werner’s league goal contributions from the past two seasons, the pair have 113 between them (Werner 44 goals+17 assists, Ziyech 22 goals+30 assists).

Ben Chilwell was the main target for Lampard as the manager looks to continue his English overhaul and revitalize his defense. He eventually signed from Leicester City on a five-year worth £45 million and at just 23, he perfectly fits the mold that Chelsea have been delivering over the past 12 months. As part of that defensive overhaul, Thiago Silva from Paris Saint-Germain seems like an excellent acquisition considering his caliber, and that he joined on a free.

Kai Havertz became the next piece in the puzzle as that saga finally came to its happy conclusion. £71 million is an eye watering sum, but his statistics at Bayer Leverkusen do all the talking needed. He is a German revelation ready to rock the English establishment.

And lest anyone forget, this window is not done yet. Rumors of a defensive midfielder and a keeper continue through the Havertz signing. Also, the legacy these players leave at Chelsea has not yet begun. This window could go on to be even better yet.
