Callum Hudson-Odoi (No. 20) Right winger, England

Hudson-Odoi was not able to break into Lampard’s preferred XI last season, but it’s a new beginning and as such, new opportunities present themselves. He was coming back from a horrible injury last year and that should not be ignored. Hudson-Odoi’s battle to be in the starting line-up is an uphill one, but he is a very determined player and he’ll work hard at it. Opportunities would be fewer than last season and so every minute he spends on the pitch will be crucial for him to try and give Lampard a selection headache.

Timo Werner (No. 11) Striker, Germany

Werner has somehow already instilled confidence in Chelsea fans, despite not playing any competitive game for the west London side yet. His goal against Spain in the UEFA Nations League gives a glimpse into his superior goalscoring ability. Couple that with the creative talent all around him and it becomes clear why he is expected to score many goals in blue.

Christian Pulisic (No. 10) Left winger, United States

Pulisic was slowly integrated into the side last season and he should be grateful given the outcome. Pulisic showed that he should always be on the pitch whenever possible after his growth under Lampard. His close control dribbling, tendency to drive the ball towards the opposition goal and his superb finishing will make him a very unpleasant player to play against. Liverpool can tell you more about what Pulisic is all about, seeing as he went through four of their players en route to his assist for Tammy Abraham’s goal at Anfield. Pulisic starts despite not being 100 percent.
