Cesar Azpilicueta, 7

The game changed when Azpilicueta came on. The Blues stabilized and began to attack West Brom with more persistency and confidence. He even assisted the first goal. It is no coincidence that when the captain stepped on the pitch, the blues regained control of the match.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, 8

Hudson-Odoi played well on a day when Chelsea needed someone to. He was constantly running at West Brom’s wide men and making himself a nuisance. He had that superb linkup with Havertz to score the magnificent goal. It was his cross into the box that caused the scramble that eventually resulted in Abraham’s third goal. He wasn’t part of the team that dug a hole for themselves, but he definitely played a big part in pulling them out of it.

Olivier Giroud, 6

Giroud was ineffective. He tried to get some quick passes going in the final third but he didn’t get much of a chance to even receive the ball. Chelsea hardly used him as the target man they brought him on as. They were still passing the ball around trying to work the ball in. No one took advantage of his height, no good crosses for him to disturb West Brom aerially.
