Callum Hudson-Odoi (Right winger): 5

With Ziyech and Pulisic missing the game through injury, Hudson-Odoi started on the wing after an impressive cameo off the bench against West Brom. The young Cobham graduate will feel like this game was an opportunity missed for him. He had the chance to show Lampard that he could be relied upon, but was not as sharp as he would have liked.

The 19-year-old also selfishly missed a good chance to kill the game towards the end, cutting in from the left and choosing to shoot high and wide, rather than play Abraham through. However, his work off the ball was very impressive, most notably his 50-yard sprint back to tackle Reguilon after Azpilicueta lost the ball cheaply.

Olivier Giroud (Striker): 4

Lampard gave Olivier Giroud his first start of the season, expecting him to link up well with Werner—used mainly as an inside forward than a pure winger—and Hudson-Odoi. Tottenham’s defenders did very well to ensure that this did not happen. They stayed tight to him and made it extremely hard for him to get on the ball. He made just 11 passes in his 76 minutes on the pitch. Giroud was also picked for his aerial strength, but he won none of his three aerial duels. He had just 22 touches in the entire game and never really got involved.

Timo Werner (Left winger): 6

Werner’s crisp strike from the edge of the box relieved the mounting pressure on the German striker. His well taken goal highlighted his superior finishing ability, as well as his movement in the box. Apart from that, he did not have the best game on the ball. Werner gave away possession a game high 17 times and had a poor pass completion of just 76.9 percent. The return of Ziyech and Pulisic will definitely give him a boost as he comes off back to back performances that he will be disappointed with.

Tammy Abraham (Striker): 6.5

Abraham was very good after coming on. He provided mobility to the side which was lacking from Giroud in that position. He pressed well, his movement was good and the game really suited him once it opened up. After missing a crucial penalty against Liverpool in last season’s UEFA Super Cup final, Abraham stepped up and scored this penalty, which will only add to his confidence after scoring two goals in the last two games.
