N’Golo Kante, Central midfield, 7, France

While everyone remembers Chelsea’s horrific defense last season, few realize that Chelsea missed the services of N’Golo Kante. The Frenchman has started this season beautifully and it is truly a delight to watch a fully fit N’Golo Kante. He has been running up and down the pitch and has been recovering the ball as usual. If there’s one man that must be on the team sheet, its N’Golo Kante.

Mateo Kovacic, Central midfield, 17, Croatia

Mateo Kovacic was Chelsea’s Player of the Season 2019/20. He was an absolute engine throughout the season as he showed consistency in a rather inconsistent Chelsea side. With Danny Ings and Che Adams at the top for Southampton, Chelsea will need Kovacic with his physicality and energy. Jorginho is more suited for opponents that choose to sit back. Against Southampton, an agile player like Kovacic will really help the Blues move the ball around efficiently.

Kai Havertz, Attacking midfield, 29, Germany

Kai Havertz has shown some promising signs in the opening stages of the season. He has a certain calmness about his games and his style of football seems seamless. Against Crystal Palace, Havertz was his magical self as he pulled defenders and opened spaces for other forwards. He seems to have a telepathic connection with Timo Werner. Both Germans understand each other’s game really well and their performances against Switzerland was just a trailer of what Stamford Bridge will witness for years to come.
