Christian Pulisic (Right winger): 7

Not the best performance by our Captain America, but considering his circumstances, he was decent. Although Pulisic registered neither a goal nor an assist, his movement opened spaces for everyone around him. With his quick feet, and capacity to maneuver through tight spaces, Pulisic created openings for teammates. Although he can do better, it is understandable why he didn’t. He somehow overachieved once again given the circumstances.

Timo Werner (Striker): 9

The German international made a big statement today with two great goals. Werner was always on the move, ready to play in the center or on the right. His first goal was simply magnificent, with so much individual brilliance and a great finish. The second was filthy—to say the least—with a chip over the keeper, which turned into an assist from himself to himself. Werner was the best player on the field, and it is a shame he could not get the hat-trick. Regardless, he is showing what he is capable of, little by little.

Mason Mount (Left winger): 5

It’s not that Mount was poor; he just wasn’t good enough. Mount deserves all the respect in the world for being able to play out of position and still put great performances day in and day out. Today, he was too conservative with his play. He had a couple of chances to take a quick shot and hesitated. Maybe his usual brilliance is what Chelsea was lacking to finish the game off.

Hakim Ziyech (Right winger): 5

The only one of all Chelsea’s signing to not make an appearance yet, Ziyech finally got his chance on the field. The logic behind his addition was to increase the lead. Although Ziyech was alert and active, he couldn’t make the impact necessary. However, he is hardly to blame for that since expecting him to change a game when he hasn’t played in such a long time is ignorant.

Tammy Abraham (Striker): N/A

Abraham came on in the 90′ for Werner. Southampton controlled much of the possession when the striker came on, so he failed to do anything significant.
