Where are the Chelsea players during this ridiculous, stupid break?

UEFA Nations League and completely pointless irresponsible money grabbing friendlies: Mateo Kovacic (Croatia), Andreas Christensen (Denmark), Tammy Abraham, Ben Chilwell, Reece James, Mason Mount (England), Olivier Giroud, N’Golo Kante, Kurt Zouma (France), Antonio Rudiger, Timo Werner (Germany), Emerson, Jorginho (Italy), and Kepa Arrizabalga (Spain)

Lots going on here. Not only are there two Nations League matches, but there is also a friendly like last break for a grand total of three matches. Nothing like running players into the ground during a packed schedule with the Euros at the end of the season, right?

Kovacic has Turkey, Sweden, and Portugal. He surely starts at least one of those and probably two. He hasn’t played much as of late so he should be okay. Christensen is in a similar boat with Sweden, Iceland, and Belgium. He probably gets two of those games if not all three but he hasn’t played much so in this very narrow circumstance that might benefit Chelsea. The last singles player is Arrizabalaga with Netherlands, Switzerland, and Germany. He probably gets one throw the bone game which is most likely the friendly against the Netherlands.

The Italian contingent has some relatively easy matches in Estonia, Poland, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The friendly is likely used to play around but the two Nations League matches will see Jorginho start. Emerson probably gets one or both of those but he kind of needs the playing time for match fitness at this point.

The Germans have a packed slate of the Czech Republic, Ukraine, and Spain. It wouldn’t be surprising at all to see Rudiger and Werner start all three matches. Germany is desperately trying to figure out who they are this decade and thus far it’s been a struggle.

France has Finland, Portugal, and Sweden to contend with. Giroud is slowly (very slowy) being worked out of the national team picture but he probably starts the Nations League matches. Kante is likely in the same boat. Zouma is a toss up. He always seems an after thought for France so he could start none of these games (like last break) or all three. It is truly a wild card.

Speaking of wildcards, that is pretty much England to a tee. They have the largest Blues contingent (obviously) and Gareth Southgate’s rotation is so random that it is really had to predict what he’ll do against Ireland, Belgium, and Iceland. James is suspended for two of the matches so that narrows things down for him. With Chilwell fit, he likely joins Mount as undroppable. Abraham could find his way in due to his recent form but it really depends on how Southgate sets the side up with or without Harry Kane.
