Chelsea’s center is as talented and outstanding as it flanks. How have the central players done in Chelsea Blue this season?

A previous rendering spoke at length about the brilliant right side of the Chelsea squad when fully fit, featuring Reece James, Kai Havertz, and Hakim Ziyech. That’s a great beginning. Next, the left side, populated by young stars Ben Chilwell, Mason Mount, and American dynamo Christian Pulisic was spotlighted. Now, it’s time to point attention to the spine of the Chelsea squad, the middle, and see how that aspect of the team looks in November.

Timo Werner

This aspect of the Chelsea team looks superb. No other way to describe it. Starting center forward Timo Werner was the second most prolific scorer in the Bundesliga last year after the almost super-human Robert Lewandowski. He has continued his scoring for Chelsea. Yet, although Werner has tallied eight goals and three assists already for his new side, it is easy to say that he has barely scratched the surface of his scoring ability thus far in the Premier League and elsewhere. Assuming he stays fit, he will score more, many more as he becomes more acclimatized to the league and to his new teammates. Count on it.

Werner was signed for a ridiculously low amount by the Blues, about 47.6M pounds in the summer when compared with his talent level, and he is already reaping huge rewards for that astute move. And, as the American song goes, “The best is yet to come” for the German national for Chelsea. He could easily have 10 goals and more for the club right now. But it says here, more goals, many more goals are on the way for the clinical, lethal finishing No. 11 for Chelsea. Werner is a threat for the Golden Boot now and will be even more so in the future when he is totally acclimated.

Werner scored against Sheffield United in Chelsea’s last game. That was great. However, he came very close to two more scores, which would have notched him his first Chelsea hat trick. It doesn’t take too much imagination to envision that multi-goal games are on the way. Braces and hat tricks for the flying German national Werner and Chelsea will manifest without a doubt. Werner is an amazing starter for the Blues, yet, the duo that deputizes for the magnificent striker is also of the highest order.

Add Tammy Abraham, Chelsea’s leading scorer last season, and French World Cup Champion, Olivier Giroud to the mix at the position, and it says here that Chelsea may indeed have the best assemblage of center-forwards on one club in the world. Who can argue with that retinue?
