Hakim Ziyech (No. 22) Right winger, Morocco

Ziyech tried a lot of things against Sevilla, but unfortunately, not much came from it. It is worth noting that the Moroccan is still integrating himself into the Chelsea side. Integrating in that he and the team are still working on communication after he missed the opening few weeks of the campaign. Ziyech creates many goal scoring opportunities, many of his final third actions are centered around that. This is evident in the fact that Ziyech leads the team in key passes per game, big chances created and shot-creating actions per 90. This shows that regardless of what seems to be working, Ziyech is Chelsea’s best chance of creating a goal-scoring chance in crucial moments. To create as many opportunities as Ziyech does, you have to try many things.

Olivier Giroud (No. 18) Striker, France

Don’t freak out—this is not a knock on Tammy Abraham, but Giroud deserves to start now. Giroud has been in good form recently. He scored the winner against Rennes in a tricky game, and any player that scores four goals in a Champions League game deserves to start the next game. If it’s true that Lampard selects based on form and merit, Giroud should start. The Frenchman needs to be given a platform to take advantage of this red hot goal scoring form.

Timo Werner (No. 11) Left winger, Germany

Many have expressed disagreement over how Werner is being used. Werner is many things. He’s a striker, but he’s also a winger. For what Lampard needs from him and from the team, playing at the left wing seems to be accomplishing that. He has twelve goal involvements in sixteen appearances, so who is really complaining?
