Chelsea versus Krasnodar player ratings: Kids steal dull show
Kai Havertz (Right winger): 6.5
Havertz enjoyed a more productive outing compared to his largely anonymous display vs Leeds as he lined up on the right side of Chelsea’s attack this time. He set up Tammy Abraham with a glorious chance which should have been converted and could easily have gotten on the scoresheet himself. The German still has gears to find but I expect him to hit top speed very soon.
Tammy Abraham (Center forward): 5
After finding himself on the bench for the last two games due to Giroud’s form, Abraham finally got a chance to add to his goal tally and work himself up to the top of Lampard’s scale of preference for the striking position. However, based on his most recent display, it’s safe to say that Giroud’s spot is safe, for now at least. Yes, Abraham won the penalty from which Jorginho equalized but that was about his only meaningful contribution in the game as he missed two glorious chances to seal all three points for Chelsea.
Faustino Anjorin (Left winger): 7.5
Like Gilmour, Anjorin did not look out of place on his first Champions League start. The youngster was bright and sharp whenever he was in possession and surprisingly, he was also very much dedicated to the defensive side of things as his four tackles suggest. He may not have another first-team adventure anytime soon but he has certainly given a good account of himself with his most recent one.
Timo Werner (74′): 6
Werner came on for his compatriot; Kai Havertz, but he didn’t have any substantial contribution to the game as Chelsea pressed forward in search of all three points.
Olivier Giroud (80′): 5
Chelsea’s most in-form player at the moment couldn’t continue his goal scoring streak. Most of the time he was in action, he was fouling opposition defenders and relieving pressure for the visitors. Hopefully, he has a better game at the weekend.
