N’Golo Kante (Defensive midfielder): 6

A late booking in the first half for a foul on his opposing midfield enforcer; Allan, saw N’Golo Kante walk a tightrope for the entire second half. Despite that, Kante was undeterred as he went about his usual job of breaking up play and nipping opposition attacks in the bud. A very good display all round by the Frenchman, one of the few players with few flaws on the night.

Mason Mount (Central midfielder): 6

Mason Mount was his usual lively self on the night, but had little joy from most of his adventures. He didn’t have the best of starts to the game, largely disappearing in the first half, but grew into it as time went on. Mount came very close to leveling the game in its final knockings from a well-struck free kick, which hit the base of the post. Better luck next time perhaps, it simply wasn’t the Blues’ day.

Mateo Kovacic (Central midfielder): 6

Mateo Kovacic’s attacking qualities are not his biggest strengths, so it’s understandable as to why he couldn’t bail his side out on an occasion like this. That being said, the reigning Player of the Year put in a good shift in the middle of the park in what was a high-octane midfield battle. Kovacic found himself in more advanced positions as he tried to combine with Kai Havertz to make up for the creativity void left by Hakim Ziyech.

Billy Gilmour (Central midfielder): 5

Before Saturday, Billy Gilmour’s only game against Everton was his Premier League debut, where he put on a Man of the Match performance just before the world shut down. However, he couldn’t have any real impact against Everton this time as he came on in the final 10 minutes of the affair. Maybe an earlier introduction would’ve helped, but who knows?
