Chelsea score predictions at Wolves: Narrow win in match at Molineux
Chelsea travels to Molineux to face Wolves, looking to avenge its last loss at the weekend, but how does The Pride of London staff see this one playing out?
Chelsea let fans down with a poor—putting it lightly—performance up at Goodison Park. Everton emerged victorious, handing the Blues their second league loss of the season. However, the sky is not falling and we live to see another day. The good news is the west Londoners weren’t alone in their weekend struggles as every big six club in the top flight failed to win their match. The Blues are looking for redemption and unfortunately for Wolves, they’re tied to the train tracks. If it wasn’t already bad enough that Frank Lampard’s side did the double over Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad last season, Chelsea is now fuming following its disappointing loss.
Here’s how The Pride of London staff sees this Premier League contest panning out:
Scott Brant: 0-1 Chelsea
Wolves look dire as of late, the Blues tired and a bit run down. With that in mind, I expect a slow, physical match with Chelsea going ahead early in the second and barely hold on to get the three points. Timo Werner to score.
Gabe Henderson: 0-2 Chelsea
If nothing else, Lampard is incredible at lighting a fire under the ass of his players. He’ll be more disappointed and angry with the performance up on Merseyside than anybody, so expect the Blues to come out guns blazing at Molineux. It’ll be total domination from the boys in blue, despite the scoreline only reading 2-0, Wolves will be strangled by a press that only gets more intense as the match drags on.

Travis Tyler: 0-1 Chelsea
I’m expecting another labored slog of a match, but this time with the Blues (or, the right Blues) on the better end of it. A win is a win, but it’ll be the kind of win after a loss that beings to raise questions as to the right way forward.
Olaoluwa Nwobodo: 1-2 Chelsea
The Blues will learn from their mistakes. Wolves have picked up some good results, but Chelsea should still have enough about them to see them off comfortably. The Blues players have been shaken from their dreamy state, they know they have to react to that loss now and cannot afford back-to-back losses.
Mike Malley: 1-1 Draw
The loss to Everton was disappointing, especially since Chelsea was the better side in terms of possession and creating chances. Against Wolves, the Blues won’t have as much room for error. They’ll need to be clinical and score goals when they have good opportunities. Hopefully Christian Pulisic will be in the starting XI to provide some creativity, but the spotlight will be on whoever starts as the No. 9. A victory at the Molineux would be huge for the Blues’ title chances, but a draw seems more likely.
Varun Dani: 1-2 Chelsea
Wolves are not the same side they’ve been for the past two years, having lost their bite without Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez. They’re not particularly as solid either, but will always be a stubborn side to break down. Chelsea hasn’t been at its sparkling best in recent games either, with the loss of all natural wingers depriving the squad of offensive spark. With only two days since the last game, this battle will be a sloppy, scrappy affair. The match will be about the mistakes each side makes and the Blues will just edge it with some Edouard Mendy insurance.
Kevin Peacock: 0-3 Chelsea
The performance at Everton was not great, but the result could have gone either way in the end as Chelsea just couldn’t find an end product. Lampard’s side is still unpredictable in terms of results but it’s looked far better than it did at the start of the season. Wolves’ form has not been great either and in the absence of crucial players, the Blues will fall on the good side of unpredictable. Timo Werner to take at least one of his six chances.
Nate Hofmann: 1-1 Draw
Chelsea was knocked off kilter a bit with an unlucky—but not necessarily undeserved—1-0 defeat against Everton. Given it’s the Blues’ first loss since September, you have to wonder how the team will respond, especially with just two days off. I’m guessing a decent fight but a dull result.
Olly Smith: 1-3 Chelsea
In what was always going to be a rough run of games, this is another banana skin for a strength deprived Chelsea side that cannot afford turn last weekend’s falter into something more serious. The loss at Everton, albeit not a great performance, was the game of centimetres—as in the width of the post was all that actually denied the Blues. At least when Lampard takes the Blues to Molineux, they’ll be facing a more stuttering version of Wolves than last year. Olivier Giroud looked every bit his age against Everton and has to be replaced with Tammy Abraham, while Kai Havertz and Mason Mount have to swap positions. If those changes are made, expect goals from Havertz, Werner and Abraham.
Abhishek Pancholi: 1-3 Chelsea
Welcome to the Kai Havertz show. The German international will only last for about 70 minutes, but in that time, he will have set up two goals and scored the third himself. Werner will be the grateful recipient of one of Kai’s killer through balls to open the scoring. Abraham will be next in line to double the scoreline before the first half is over. Havertz will add the third in the second half before being substituted, having put the game beyond Wolves’ reach.
Barrett Rouen: 0-3 Chelsea
Wolves are a good side but they’re not as dangerous as they have been in the past couple of years. We all obviously know that Jimenez is a huge part of that and hope that he gets well soon, recovering both mentally and physically as soon as he is able. Chelsea, though, now having gone through a form cycle and needing to play Giroud and everybody else will go back to playing the most dangerous, ruthless players available. The Blues will also keep a clean sheet.
Joel Kristian Frederick Burton: 0-1 Chelsea
With only a two-day turn around after the game at Goodison Park, this will be a tough test in the Midlands for the Blues. With the welcome news that Pulisic will be available for the game in some form, that should mean that the Blues have the necessary firepower in the attacking areas to get a positive result against Wolves.
Michael DeVito: 2-1 Wolves
This team needs to get fit.
