Chelsea hosts West Ham as the Blues look to earn their first win in three, but does The Pride of London staff see that happening?

The way Chelsea fans are talking about the recent performances, you’d think the world is coming to an end as we know it. While losing two consecutive matches is never ideal in the top flight, the Blues are one of 19 clubs that’ve dropped points in the last three games—only Everton has taken nine points from its latest contests. Despite what social media will make you believe, Frank Lampard’s job is not in jeopardy; Timo Werner will be just fine; Edouard Mendy is still a top notch goalkeeper and the Blues are still in the conversations for some favorable table positions.

However, how will they react when West Ham comes knocking on the doors of Stamford Bridge? Chelsea cannot afford to drop three in a row and risk dropping into the bottom half of the table with things so tight at the top. A win would keep the Blues within six points of the leader, Liverpool.

Here’s how The Pride of London staff sees the contest playing out:

Nate Hofmann: 2-1 Chelsea

For whatever reason, West Ham seems to have some sort of magical ability to rain on Chelsea’s parade at any given opportunity.  Fortunately, the Blues’ current parade is already pretty overcast coming off the back of two straight losses, meaning it’s unlikely anyone will come into this match expecting a walkover. Either way, it won’t be easy, but a well-rested side should have enough firepower to overcome the bad juju that the Hammers always bring to the table.

Michael DeVito: 3-0 Chelsea

Finally a breakout from the Blues’ struggling attack? An early goal and then some luck for a second to set the stage; Mendy back to a clean sheet.

More from Premier League

Varun Dani: 2-1 Chelsea

West Ham, in the best or worst form, always finds a way to ruin the Blues’ day. Weigh in Chelsea’s injury crisis, the slump in form and the fact that Moyes’s team looks the best it has in the past decade, and you have all the ingredients for some pre-Christmas blues for the Blues. But it’s times like these that test the true mettle of a manager and Lampard will find a way to get his squad out of this rut, be it with a pretty or gritty performance. Werner will finally find the back of the net with Ben Chilwell scoring the winner.

Olly Smith: 1-2 West Ham

When it rains, it pours. West Ham has always found a way to heap misery on Chelsea in recent encounters and the Blues will falter. Despite the 14-game unbeaten run, Chelsea is still not true title contenders by any stretch of the imagination. The only good part about this loss will be that next game Tammy Abraham regains his spot and the incessant aimless crossing Chelsea have resorted to will stop, playing more to feet—which is exactly what helped the side to a 14-game unbeaten run in the first place.

Scott Brant: 2-1 Chelsea

That boring old score line that seems to come out so frequently. The Blues haven’t exactly been lighting up the scoreboard the last few. They squeak out a win as they desperately miss their playmakers like Hakim Ziyech and an in-form Christian Pulisic. Werner needs a goal and Pulisic, as well, to get back into the groove.

Mike Malley: 2-0 Chelsea

Chelsea’s form has taken a dramatic dip in the wrong direction these past two weeks, with losses to Everton and Wolves landing the Blues in eighth place in the league table. The defense has looked decent during this two-match skid, but the forwards have gone radio silent. Werner and Kai Havertz are in particularly poor form right now, but if Lampard deploys them in their preferred positions, as a striker and a CAM respectively, they’ll have a better chance of performing as they should. Bottom line: Chelsea needs to win this match.

Olaoluwa Nwobodo: 4-0 Chelsea

I have seen absolutely nothing in the last two games to suggest the we’ll win this one 4-0, or at all. The Blues are losing ground, and they need to start picking up wins. Wins are all that matter now—wins. West Ham has been playing well this season, Chelsea was playing well until it wasn’t. The players have been called out, their life is on the line; how will they respond?

Matt Hancock-Bruce: 2-2 Draw

Trying to predict Chelsea results recently has been nigh on impossible, but one thing is for certain, the Blues will be looking to bounce back after a crushing loss to Wolves. Unfortunately, West Ham has been one of the more consistent sides in the league, having lost only twice since September—against Liverpool and Man United. We can only hope for an entertaining game, but a convincing win, or a win at all, seems unlikely.

Gabe Henderson: 2-0 Chelsea

The Blues will score close to the break after an uneventful first half. It will be much of the same in the second half until West Ham opens up and tries to find the equalizer. That’s when Werner will slip in behind the Hammers’ defense, double the Blues’ lead and essentially put the game to bed. A first win for the west London side in the last three as Lampard’s men jump up the table once more.

Travis Tyler: 2-1 Chelsea

It’s a Christmas miracle as Cesar Azpilicueta bags a brace to overcome a belter of a farewell gift by Declan Rice.

Kevin Peacock: 1-0 Chelsea

It’s unlikely—famous last words—that Chelsea can possibly lose three league games in row. However, as past experience tells us, West Ham’s players are likely to massively raise their game against us, so any win will be hard fought. Lampard will want to win though and will have taken his team back to basics, starting with getting a clean sheet. The win comes courtesy of Werner, who scores one of his 10 chances.

Barrett Rouen: 2-1 Chelsea

Abhishek Pancholi: 3-1 Chelsea

A tale of two halves. The Blues will continue their lethargic form in the first half, allowing the Hammers to go a goal up. The second half will see a completely different Chelsea side take the field, having had a fire lit under its collective backside at the interval. A quick-fire double from Werner will restore the natural order of things before Callum Hudson-Odoi seals the win.

Tan Yi Hao: 3-1 Chelsea

Two losses in a row and the Blues quite simply have to respond. West Ham is in good form however, and a high level of character and performance is to be expected for Lampard’s men to come away with anything from this game. Tough fixtures against Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester City are coming up and the Blues would do well to start finding some kind of form.
