Billy Gilmour (No. 23), Central midfielder, Scotland

Like Emerson, Gilmour hasn’t started a game for Chelsea since Krasnodar but he is in line to be included in the XI this time around in place of N’Golo Kante. He came off the bench for the last 25 minutes of the City game albeit when the Citizens had taken their foot off the gas after racing to a 3-0 lead but he did well notwithstanding.

Jorginho (No. 5), Central midfielder, Italy

As stated earlier, Lewis Bate has been training with the senior team but fielding two relatively inexperienced midfielders in a pivot would be a far reach even for a man who believes in youth as much as Frank Lampard. Jorginho will be tasked with bringing a calming presence for Chelsea in a game where they will be expected to have so much of the ball.

Kai Havertz (No. 29), Attacking midfielder, Germany

Havertz came on as a substitute to assist Callum Hudson-Odoi’s late consolation goal against Pep Guardiola’s men. The German has struggled since his recovery from coronavirus. Much debate has gone up over what his best position is but the number 10 role is the best answer. Similar to the Barnsley game where he grabbed a hat trick, Havertz has another chance against lower league opponents in his favored position to get on the scoresheet and boost his confidence as he aims to kickstart his Chelsea career.
