Chelsea predicted XI vs Tottenham: 3-4-3 put to the real test
Hakim Ziyech, No. 22, Right winger, Morocco
Ziyech was left out of the match against Burnley to protect him from a potential injury. He should start whenever he’s fit as he’s Chelsea’s best passer of the ball. His ability to spot runs and pick out outrageous passes quickly and easily is an asset that Tuchel wants to have in every match. His intelligence is also key for the Blues because he can decide how to progress play, either with simple short layoffs, or killer long balls. Depending on how the game goes, Ziyech could be the difference, his extra quality could make such a big difference in a big game like this.
Olivier Giroud, No. 18, Striker, France
Giroud is probably the league’s best aerial threat. His ability to control his headers in less than comfortable angles is second to none. Tammy Abraham didn’t have a good game against Burnley and Wolves. Giroud’s linkup play and strength would probably give him the edge over Abraham. Whoever leads the line against Spurs would have to do better than they’ve done in the last two games to really have an impact because Spurs aren’t weak defensively.
Mason Mount, No. 19, Left winger, England
Mount was Chelsea’s best player against Burnley. He created several chances and often made the right decision in the final third. Mount has been one of Chelsea’s most consistent players this season, granted not many have been. He leads the team in many creative stats and he has been a good source of goal scoring chances both from open play and from set pieces. He has assisted Kurt Zouma three times from corners already this season. Many fans scorn at his creative numbers because they feel they’re inflated by set pieces, what these fans don’t acknowledge is that it’s not easy to create goal scoring chances from corners.
