Chelsea vs Manchester City combined XI: 4-3-3 with sprinkles
Riyadh Mahrez (No. 26) Right winger, Algeria
Mahrez moved to Manchester City from Leicester City and while it has been a hugely successful move, he hasn’t quite become the key player his price tag would have suggested. As City’s most expensive signing till date, it is rather interesting that when all City attackers are fit, he might not start. However he has been superb this season. Recording 13 goal involvements and creating 7 big chances in 24 appearances. He has played four FA Cup games, and is obviously one of the reasons City find themselves in a semi final. His vision and trickery have helped City create scoring chances from his first match for City. He gets in over Ziyech, as Ziyech hasn’t been as consistent as Mahrez this season.
Raheem Sterling (No. 11) Left winger, England
Sterling has been a lot more productive and consistent than Christian Pulisic this season. He boasts 15 league goals involvements and 8 clear cut chances created. Pulisic hasn’t been good in the FA Cup and only just kicked into a purple patch in other competitions. Sterling has only started two games for City in the FA Cup this season, but he gets into this combined XI
Tammy Abraham (No. 9) Center forward, England
Abraham has scored enough goals in the FA Cup this season to be in this combined XI, especially considering its an FA Cup match. Abraham in fact is the only member of the joint top scorers in this competition that is still in the competition. He’s also Chelsea’s highest goal scorer in all competitions and truth be told, no one has been able to hold down the center forward position in both teams, as both managers have opted to go striker-less in their last few matches, so who starts at striker in this combined XI is anyone’s guess really (It’s Abraham).
