3. Tammy Abraham is gone

Amidst all the fanfare that has accompanied Tuchel since his arrival in place of the outgoing Lampard, Tammy Abraham’s lack of game time under the new boss has quickly evolved into a genuinely concerning issue. Having last made an appearance under Tuchel in the 1-1 draw against Southampton on the 20th of February, a combination of injury and a lack of match fitness since has seen the Englishman’s game time reduced to nought.

With the team in decent form and results falling in place across the board, perhaps there is good sense in choosing not to break up a winning formula. However, when considering that up to nine substitutes are allowed on the bench this season, it is simply unfathomable that the club’s top scorer cannot even make the match day squad. Moreover, when accounting for the Blues’ lack of goals without a clinical finisher under Tuchel, it is incredible to see Abraham continuously sidelined.

With all that said, Saturday’s no-show for Chelsea’s No. 9 seems to have sounded the death knell on Abraham’s career at SW6. This foregone conclusion is something that can be derived when accounting for two factors. The first would be the multiple injuries to key members of the starting XI, which should theoretically afford Abraham a spot on the bench and the second being the simple fact that Abraham remains the club’s top scorer in the FA Cup. If these reasons are not reasons enough to convince Tuchel to feature the 23-year-old in some capacity, nothing ever will.

Chelsea may have won on the day, and will most likely continue winning in the season to come under Tuchel, but the German will not stick around forever. With a situation all too similar to that of Romelu Lukaku all those years ago rapidly unveiling under his charge, the ultimate price could yet be another painful one for the Blues to pay.
