3. The tactics and the approach

With all the hype around Chelsea’s performance against Real Madrid, the London derby is bound to be overshadowed. The Blues are probably preparing for the second leg, and the intensity will probably drop against Fulham. Moreover, Tuchel is likely to rotate, and the rhythm will be missing, similar to the game against Brighton. Few players like Mason Mount, Jorginho, Kante, Azpilicueta deserve a rest, and it would see some of the other players getting a solid chance. With Pulisic and Mount wreaking havoc, Ziyech and Havertz have been in the backseat. This game would be the perfect game for them to stake a claim for the starting eleven.

As far as the tactics are concerned, Tuchel will probably want his side to maintain possession and avoid pressing too much. The objective would be to secure a result without exerting too much as this is the last chance to rotate a bit as the upcoming fixtures for the Blues are extremely important.

In the past few games, Tuchel has more or less settled on the group of players that start and has started similar lineups, and fitness could also be a concern as the Blues head into the final phase of the season.

This game has the aura of being a dull draw again, but the Blues cannot afford to drop points again. Tuchel will have to find the fine line between rotating too much and overworking his star players.
